When To Claim On Your Insurance Policy

Making You Car Insurance Claim Based on No Claims Bonus

It is not necessarily a guarantee that when a car owner makes a claim, their no claims bonus will be affected. This all depends on several factors, including whether the claim is a fault or no fault claim. In addition, the insurance company may have offered the car owner a protected no claims bonus. This may be obtained after the car owner has completed the no claims bonus maximum of five to seven years under the no claims bonus policy. An insurance company may typically allow a two or three fault claims or no fault claims on a car insurance’s policy without negatively affecting their no claim bonus. A no claim bonus will cease to be affective after the current policy as expired.

5. Many insurance companies keep a list of certified body shops they require their policy holders to use in the event of a claim. You should shop around at couple of these mechanics to get the best quote for your repairs. Once you've received an estimate from several recommended body shops, take the car directly to the chosen body shop to complete your repairs.
